Piano has always been a creative outlet.

I started playing piano at the age of 9.  I started composing music at the age of 12 and have been writing piano music since then.  I was lucky enough to get recognition in local and state competitions for both classical performance and original compositions.  Many of these early works are still performed along with classical favorites and new compositions.

One of the major influences was my piano teacher John.  I  began taking lessons from John Strassburg at age 10.  I took lessons from John for 7 years, at which time he suggested I pursue a college level piano teacher.  This would have been a new arc in my piano career and would have meant dedicating 3-4 hours daily to practice.  At the time, this wasn’t the path for me and was around the time I started getting more serious about guitar and writing music with a full band in mind.

In 2001, I started a rock band with my brother Austin called Tree of Woe.  The band went on hiatus in 2010.  We toy around with the idea of getting back together, but families and careers have been the focus with music taking a back seat.

I need music to be whole.  Piano is my outlet for the brooding, melancholy, and helps me find meaning in all of this.  I’m hoping to share music with people that might enjoy it.  Hope to see you out there.
